Since moving to London in September 2014 to study composition at the Royal Academy of Music I’ve had the chance to work with leading composers including my teacher Simon Bainbridge, Oliver Knussen, Sir Peter Maxwell-Davies, Judith Weir and Michael Finnissy just to name a few! I’ve also had the wonderful opportunity to work with leading London based ensembles such as Blossom St Singers, CHROMA ensemble and RAM based wind quintet Notus Winds. Whilst I’ve more or less wrapped up my first year at the academy I still have three very exciting premieres coming up! Firstly my piece The space in between for Flute, Viola and Harp will be performed by three academy students at the Spitalfields Festival on 9th June. I’ve also been working with Belle Chen on new work for Piano and electronics which will be premiered in the Academy Summer Piano Festival. I’m extremely excited to have written Three Miniatures for Solo Soprano Saxophone for the amazingly talented Brisbane based saxophonist Emma DiMarco. Emma will be performing my miniatures in the 2015 World Saxophone Congress in Strasbourg, France in July. I’ll also be returning home briefly during July/August and will be putting together a concert of music from London! More to follow.
