Lo-fi Audio Sampler [2024]

The Lo-fi Audio Sampler is custom PCB and design that aims to explore the functionality, idiosyncrasies and creative possibilities of the venerable ISD1820 voice recorder chip, to create a unique lo-fi audio sampler instrument with various performance controls including body contacts and light sensors, as well as trigger/gate and CV control. The sampling and playback speed can be controlled via touch or through connection via an external sequencer or synth module. The ISD1820 has found its way into the heart of many DIY synth projects and is favoured for its uniquely distorted and noisy tone, as well as its sound-warping capabilities.
